Postnatal wellbeing program recognises that life isn’t always peachy

The Sunshine Parenting Program is a six-week postnatal wellbeing program for mothers who are struggling with their mental health, facilitated by Peach Tree Perinatal Wellness Inc and funded by Brisbane North PHN.

The program is delivered across six sessions by peer-support workers. The first and last sessions involve individual discussions and one-on-one support with the program manager and a psychologist. The program’s key content is provided in group workshops, with topics like attachment and bonding, parenting styles, maintaining emotional wellness and navigating relationships. Each group has a maximum of eight participants, and is facilitated by two peer-support workers.

The program is being delivered in Caboolture and Wavell Heights. It will be independently evaluated by researchers from Queensland University of Technology, with the results due in early 2019.
