Measles alert for Brisbane - 12 July 2018
A case of measles in a child with contacts in Brisbane was confirmed this week.
Metro North Public Health Unit (MNPHU) urges people who attended the following locations to be alert to the symptoms of measles:
- Philippine Airlines flight PRO221 from Manila and Brisbane International Airport on the morning of Sunday, 8 July
- Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital Emergency Department (ED) between the hours of 2pm and 9.30pm, Tuesday 10 July
Given the large numbers of people potentially exposed, further measles cases could present in Brisbane or elsewhere over the next few weeks. MNPHU has released a media statement requesting anyone who may have been exposed to the virus to ensure they are protected against measles and to seek medical advice if symptoms develop.
