Congratulations new Medical Assisting graduates

The nationally accredited Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting course recently graduated 16 new Medical Assistants following 18 months of formal training.

Brisbane North PHN offers the Certificate IV in Medical Practice in partnership with registered training organisation UNE Partnerships. The graduates were awarded their certificates at a ceremony on 24 August by Brisbane North PHN Primary Care Liaison Manager, Pam Hendry and Health Workforce Innovations Coordinator, Maralan Southern who both expressed their
gratitude for the essential network of people involved in teaching and administering the course.

The graduated Medical Assistants now have the opportunity to become multi-skilled members of a practice team; able to perform administrative tasks and front desk duties, as well as a
wide range of treatment room procedures. The Medical Assistant role boosts the general practice workforce by freeing up practice nurses and GPs to use their higher level skills in complex patient care, preventative care and chronic disease management.

The highly successful program has graduated 195 Medical Assistants since its inception in 2010. The flexible course delivery opens up study to students from throughout Queensland and delivery is via self-paced online learning, on the job training and face-to-face workshops. The course is delivered over four study terms with a compulsory workshop in each term.
