Brisbane MIND4KiDS

Brisbane MIND4KiDS is part of Brisbane North PHN's Brisbane MIND program. 

Brisbane MIND4KiDS provides brief psychological intervention to children (up to 11 years of age) and their families. Brisbane MIND4KiDS is designed to support families and children who are considered to be vulnerable and disadvantaged and who otherwise would not have access to psychological support.

Children under the age of 12 who have, or are at risk of developing emotional, behavioural or mental health conditions can access Brisbane MIND4KiDs services, which are delivered across our region by the following two providers: 

  • Moreton Bay North / Redcliffe- North Lakes – yourtown
  • Pine Rivers / Brisbane North / Brisbane Inner City / Brisbane West – Aftercare

Eligibility For Brisbane MIND4KiDS

To be eligible for Brisbane MIND4KiDS funding, clients must meet the following criteria:

Eligibility criteria:

  • a child aged 0-11 years, who has, or is at risk of developing an emotional, behavioural or mental health condition and would benefit from short-term psychological services. (Child does NOT need to have a diagnosis to access this service)
  • a parent/guardian must hold a healthcare card or pension card
  • a child/parent/guardian lives in the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay/Somerset region
  • a child has a child treatment plan (or mental health treatment plan) completed by their referring GP.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • developmental and learning disorders (including ASD conditions)
  • please note: Brisbane MIND4KiDS cannot provide formal diagnostic assessment services. Children with developmental disorders, learning disorders, or disability are not eligible for referral for the treatment of these conditions.
Information for referrers

Brisbane MIND4KiDs provides short-term mental health services for children aged 0 to 11 years.

Referral information

Referral to Brisbane MIND4KiDS is primarily through a GP.  Psychiatrists or paediatricians may also refer. 

NOTE: The referring GP must practice in the Brisbane North PHN region as a general rule, however we will accept some referrals from GPs outside the region as long as the client resides in the region.

Referral caps

Funding for the Brisbane MIND4KiDs program is capped each financial year and the focus is on clients with the highest needs. Demand for the program will be managed by the PHN and providers to ensure sustainability and only those that meet the program eligibility and have an appropriate referral will be considered. Currently there are no GP referral caps for Brisbane MIND4KiDs.


Number of sessions (per referral):

  • children may have up to 12 sessions of therapy
  • please note: family therapy and parenting skills are able to be delivered under a child’s referral to Brisbane MIND4KiDS, where clinically appropriate.

Brisbane MIND4KiDS referral templates

From 1 July 2019, GPs and other referrers will be required to submit referrals through Brisbane MIND Plus Redicase GP Integrator or via HealthPathways. Old referral forms that are sent via fax or Medical Objects will no longer be accepted.

Installation of the GP Integrator into practice software for practices with Best Practice or Medical Director

  • your Primary Care Liaison Officer (PCLO) will be able to advise on the basic IT requirements
  • installation will need to be coordinated between your practice manager, your practice software IT support and software vendor, Redbourne
  • to arrange GP Integrator installation please contact Redbourne IT Support on 1800 783 336 or email redicase@redbourne.com.au.Redbourne will then arrange a mutually convenient time for installation
  • depending on your IT system you may need to involve your third party IT support provider.
