Brisbane North PHN offers the nationally accredited Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting (HLT 47715) in Queensland in partnership with registered training organisation UNE Partnerships (RTO Code 6754).
Medical Assistants are multi-skilled members of the practice team, able to perform administrative tasks and front desk duties as well as a wide range of treatment room procedures. The Medical Assistant role boosts the general practice workforce by freeing up practice nurses and GPs to use their higher level skills in complex patient care, preventative care and chronic disease management.

Among 2016/17's 24 graduates from the Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting course was Wendy Schukking from CQ Medicentre in Rockhampton.
“The course was absolutely wonderful and has given me real confidence about doing things the right way and to the correct standards,” Ms Schukking said.
“The content was presented in easy to understand terms, the theory and practical elements were well integrated and there was great support from the trainer if needed,” she said.
